Records Management 4.0

Updated for 2023, the Department of Navy (DON) Records Management application serves as the mobile counterpart to the mandatory DON Records Management training course. This annual, app-based training equips personnel with comprehensive Records Management guidelines and best practices in adherence to Federal regulations. It aims to enhance users' understanding of fundamental recordkeeping methods, the records lifecycle, dispositions, essential records, electronic records, senior leaders’ records, and associated information. The application particularly emphasizes aiding users in comprehending their responsibilities concerning the records under their supervision.

Key responsibilities include:

• Knowing and adhering to your agency's Records Management policies and procedures
• Reviewing your office's file plan to identify materials you are accountable for maintaining
• Adhering to the retention and disposition guidelines outlined in the records schedule
• Reporting any discrepancies in the file plan or requesting necessary updates from the Records Manager
• Acknowledging the potential liability associated with improper record management

Course Completion Verification:

• End-of-course completions can be sent via email to the Navy Training Management and Planning System (NTMPS) for inclusion in the Electronic Training Jacket (ETJ).
• Users are advised to keep copies of Completion Certificate emails until confirmation of posting in their ETJ or Fleet Training Management Planning System (FLTMPS) is received.
• If completion status is not reflected in ETJ or FLTMPS within 72 hours, users may consider forwarding a copy of the email to their supervisor or FLTMPS Coordinator/Training POC as proof of completion. Alternatively, the FLTMPS Coordinator can manually register course completion using the FLTMPS Learning Event Completion Form if necessary.
